Essay on the impact of science and technology

There are an infinite number of obscure scientific facts that might seem to have little relevance to our daily lives. For instance, humans have 46 chromosomes, peas have 14, and crayfish have 200. While it is certainly arguable that the previous example fact must be known and understood by every educated person, what is not debatable is that science and technology have improved the knowledge and living standard of everyone worldwide.

Every day, billions of people benefit from the progression of technology, whether they are capable of contributing to its progression or not and, furthermore, whether they are even capable of understanding the science behind that technology or not. As a result of scientific advancement, the amount of effort and energy required to complete work is often lightened and shortened. Science and technology have made our lives more enjoyable and given us more free time. Additionally, through science, diseases can be cured and people can live longer and healthier lives.

Though science has a long history of improving the human condition, in the last few decades, the impact of science has increasingly influenced individuals and society. There are a lot of banal everyday situations that are greatly simplified by a product of technology. For example, a machine that prepares coffee is convenient and timesaving. Products of technology accelerate daily life and working processes and allow people to accomplish more on a daily basis. This is time and labor saving, which allows a higher production.

Scientific advancement does not only benefit the individual on a micro level, it also plays a beneficial role in world affairs. The prolific extent of contemporary globalization would not have been possible without technology and science. This development supports connection, communication and trade. The booming world market is basically a result of this progress. Beyond the commercial aspect, globalization through technological advancement fosters peace as well. It not only serves to strengthen business and political relations but brings individuals together. For example, it is simple to be friends with people around the world thanks to social networks and videoconferencing.

Another advantage of scientific progress is the state of knowledge in medicine and health care on which scientists work constantly. As a result, the average life expectancy of both genders is growing continuously every year. All of this hard work and research has resulted in modern medicine being able to provide the right drug for most diseases. There is no telling what advancements are on the horizon in the medical field but there is no doubt that the future is bright – thanks to science and technology.

In conclusion, science and technology not only interact with our daily lives extensively but also influence world affairs and health conditions. It is certain that science and technology have made our lives more enjoyable because of all advantages it has provided; it has simplified, accelerated, protected, and improved our lives. While there has already been a great influence on our daily lives, on society, and world affairs, it is clear that the impact is only intensifying as time passes. Curiously, we are becoming more capable yet at the same time more dependent on this process. This co-dependency may seem harmless on its surface, yet I cannot help asking myself will we reach a point when we could not even live without it anymore?
